Food for Thought: Kitchen Table Musings
Jane’s column will center around her work as Editor on Kitchen Table Stories, Story Circle Network's commemorative cookbook-anthology published in 2007. A year after the book’s release, Jane asks, what can we learn about writing and editing, about life-writing and cookery writing, and about self-publishing and book promotion from this successful collaborative effort by SCN’s members?
Jane Ross is a freelance writer and editor based in Austin, Texas. A Story Circle Network member since 1999, Jane is a member of the Sharing Our Stories writing circle and facilitates the Continuing OWL writing circle. She has been an SCN Board member and coordinated and edited the Kitchen Table Stories cookbook-anthology for SCN’s tenth anniversary celebrations in 2007. Jane retired as editor of the Story Circle Journal in 2008 after four very gratifying years on the Journal.
Jane’s only daughter Sofia started college in 2008. Becoming an empty nester prompted Jane to take stock to come up with some new goals for the last part of her working life. The writing she’s done in her writing circles has played a big part in helping her work out what’s next, and writing and editing will certainly continue to be an important part of her work. Stay tuned.
